Facility Inspections
Although this nursing home's overall grade was terrible, it fared pretty well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B for that area, which is one of our better scores. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We were also stunned to discover that this facility earned a decent long-term care rating this year. We awarded it a grade of C in that area. Our long-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of nursing services. This means a vast range of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 98.879555 percent of its patients. This facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our short-term care grade. This is not a very good score. Short-term care grades are typically employed to grade a nursing home's rehabilitation services To provide high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Based on its abysmal grade in this category, we weren't surprised to find this place provided significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most facilities. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
Nurse Quality
The next category we graded is nursing, in which this nursing home was given a bottom of the barrel score here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this category, which is obviously somewhat alarming. There are a host of data points included in this area. Most of these subcategories are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
