Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the reasons this place received a great overall grade is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In this category, we gave this facility an A. Our nursing grade is based on quite a few datapoints, however, the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to note the fact that this nursing home was given a high-end score of A in our long-term care category. For patients in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. One of the datapoints we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 86.18421 percent of its patients. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Compounding its high-end resume, this nursing home also received a superb short-term care score, with a score of A. Our short-term care grade is generally used to measure a nursing home's rehabilitation services To have high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home has received near flawless government inspections in recent years. We gave them an A- in this category. This is one of the few nursing homes in the nation to receive an A- or better in every single category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. While this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
