Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home has received near flawless inspections recently. We awarded them an A+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively insignificant. While this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home performed well in the category of long-term care. As a result, we gave it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our higher scores. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. After considering the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 97.98271 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a dangerous ailment for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't take any chances. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. We analyzed the licensure of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time those nurses spent with patients, in determining our grade in this area. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed is short-term care, where this facility was awarded a B-. Even though this turned out to be its lowest category rating, this is still nothing to be ashamed of. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below average.
