Facility Inspections
Although we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B+ for our inspections category. This score is far better than the place's overall score. Inspection scores are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. This place was hit with 9 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of C. The nursing score is based on many subcategories, however, the main one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This figure is significantly below the national average. Finally, nursing ratings also consider quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses to assist its patients.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility was given its third best category grade in the area of short-term care. We gave this facility a grade of C in this category, which is a respectable score. In computing these short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to create a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. The facility offered fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final item we considered in this area is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was long-term care. This facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in that category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility administered the vaccine to a relatively low 71.00592 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.06 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
