Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't rate poorly in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a C for that area, which ended up being among its better grades. With our short-term care assessment, we attempt to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. In fact, we found that it outperformed the majority of nursing homes in the country in this area with 55.7 percent of its patients returning home. This is a higher rate than most nursing homes.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. In determining our nursing scores, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home offered a meager 2.9 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is not a very impressive figure. To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this facility also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home. This could be a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. Unfortunately, these statistics hurt this facility's nursing rating significantly.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded is long-term care, in which this facility received a poor grade in this category also. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this category, which is obviously very concerning. Facilities that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. One of the data points we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 91.75258 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.79 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
