Facility Inspections
In addition to faring well overall, this nursing home also earned nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that category with a grade of A+. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category generally have few of these severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Adding to its elite assessments in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for our short-term care rating. In our short-term care rating, we seek to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. There are many datapoints included in this grade. Most of the criteria relate to the quantity of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed is long-term care. We gave this nursing home a decent grade in that area, with a grade of B-. Even though this isn't as dominant as several of this nursing home's other scores, it is still not the end of the world. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
