In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Additionally, we also wanted to note that this facility received favorable long-term care marks this year. We awarded them one of our better scores in this area, with a B+. This proved to be the nursing home's second strongest grade. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 83.09456 percent of its residents, which is a few points lower than we were hoping for. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. In computing a facility's nursing score, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are seeing patients as well as the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

The final category we analyzed is short-term care, which proved to be this facility's least impressive category. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in that area. Sadly, this score pulled down the nursing home's overall grade to some degree. Our short-term care ratings are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
