Grade: A-minus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest grades in that area with an A-. Inspection scores are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

This nursing home also received an impressive grade in our long-term care category. We gave this facility an above average grade of B in this area. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 98.447205 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't take any chances. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Our nursing grade includes several subcategories, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This figure is significantly below average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Our final category is short-term care, where we awarded this facility a C in this category. In the category of short-term care, we try to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
