Nurse Quality
While we were down on this facility overall, we awarded it a B for our nursing rating. This grade is more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. In computing our nursing ratings, we look at both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a policy of turning patients at least once a day.
Facility Inspections
We actually gave this facility a very solid score in the area of inspections as well. We awarded it a B- in this category. This is better than many facilities in this category. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a solid grade in the area of long-term care, with a grade of C. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. We were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated a relatively low 63.708084 percent of its residents for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at was short-term care. This nursing home was given a very poor grade of F in that area. In our short-term care grade, we strive to forge a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. As you might expect, we discovered that this facility offers far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
