Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the reasons this turned out to be a strong nursing home is that it earned an impressive inspection score. Inspections is its best category grade. In this area, we awarded this facility an A. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Contributing to its profile, this nursing home also received a grade of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is an above average grade in this area. Our short-term care grades are presumably more critical for folks requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically requires more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home was awarded a strong long-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 91.57895 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is a bit less than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Switching gears to the last category, this facility received a very strong nursing grade. This nursing home did not turn out to have any real weak links. Our nursing score assesses a handful of factors, many of which are tied to nursing hours. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
