Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to a phenomenal overall grade, this facility also received A+ nursing grade. We scrutinized the licensure of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of hours those nurses worked with residents, in computing our score in this category. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition, this facility was given dominant marks in the area of short-term care. As a result, it was given one of our best scores in that area with a grade of A+. Our short-term care grade is typically used to gauge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also performed well in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a score of A. Very few facilities received a better grade in this area. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the factors we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This is a proven method to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we gave this nursing home a score of A for our inspections rating. With this grade, the facility completes its straight A report card. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
