Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
This facilities grades were terrible across the board. In particular, we wanted to draw your attention to its poor short-term care grade where it received an F. In forming these short-term care grades, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to create a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Not surprisingly, we discovered that this facility offers substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the typical facility. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
Facility Inspections
Unfortunately, this facility received an F for its inspection grade. This is a very important category. Grades in this range generally point to some red flags on the nursing home's government inspection reports. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection score. We would pay close attention to the level of severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 6 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they posed a threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were significantly below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This place performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed was long-term care. This facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in this category. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 53 percent of its patients. This is several points below what we expected. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
