Nurse Quality
One of the many reasons this place received a great overall grade is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, this turned out to be its best category. In this area, we gave this nursing home an A. Our nursing score is mostly associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Facility Inspections
Adding to this nursing home's impressive resume, we awarded this facility an A for our inspections rating. Inspection scores are tied to several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent government inspections. Nursing homes that score well in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality
Compounding its fine assessment, this nursing home also received a superb long-term care score, with a grade of A. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After we finished looking at the quantity of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly is often a life threatening health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility does not take any chances. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
In our last area, we gave this nursing home an A for our short-term care grade. This topped off a very impressive report card. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to assess a facility's rehabilitation services. To have highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this area is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
