Facility Inspections
To go along with its relatively modest overall score, we awarded this facility a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. This is far more impressive than its overall grade. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also would like to note that this facility was given impressive long-term care marks this year. We gave them one of our more impressive scores in this area, with a B. This turned out to be the facility's second strongest score. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the criteria we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 90.68901 percent of its residents. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home earned a strong nursing rating this year as well. It earned one of our better scores in that area with an above average grade of F. The nursing rating analyzes a handful of subcategories, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our fourth area, this nursing home really did not fare well. With an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is this facility's weakest grade. Short-term care ratings are meaningful for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients who ultimately returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.5 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below average.
