Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our long-term care grade and that actually turned out to be its second most respectable category. Facilities that don't fare well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in some of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to just 48.2906 percent of its residents, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. We looked at the levels of nurses working for the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time the nurses worked with patients, in calculating our rating in this category. This nursing home averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these datapoints to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed was short-term care, where this nursing home received a poor score in this category also. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this area, which is obviously a major concern. In our short-term care score, we strive to craft a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Considering its score in this area, we were not surprised to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected here. The last item we considered in this area is the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below average.
