Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Our nursing rating is largely tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was elite in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a score of A. Only a select group of nursing homes performed better in this area. Our short-term care ratings are probably more meaningful for folks needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically mandates more skilled nursing services. This includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was long-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an acceptable grade of B-. This actually ended up being this facility's worst area. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 97.454544 percent of its residents, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
