Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid inspections in recent years. We gave it a B+ in this area, which is much better than its overall grade. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second highest category is short-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B-. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for patients seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final measure we considered in this category is the number of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
The next highest category we gave this nursing home in any category came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of C. Long-term care ratings are pivotal for patients in need of non-healthcare services such as personal care. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our next category, this nursing home really didn't fare well in this category either. With an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is really as terrible as it gets. There are quite a few data points within this grade. Most of these criteria are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. To go along with its below average total nursing hours per resident, this facility had really poor scores in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percent of residents sustaining falls which led to serious injury. This nursing home was at more than 150 percent of the national average in this statistic. This is alarming in light of the fact that many falls could be prevented with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of earning a poor nursing rating.
