Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this place favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid inspections in recent years. We gave it a B+ in this area, which was much better than its overall grade. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
The second most favorable category we gave this facility in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of C. Our long-term care ratings are pivotal for patients seeking personal care. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility averaged just 3.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is not a very impressive figure. In addition to its below average nursing hour totals, this facility earned poor marks in some of the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We found that more of this place's patients experienced falls leading to serious injury. We believe that many falls could be avoided with better nursing care. This statistic contributed to this place receiving a terrible nursing rating.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed was short-term care, which turned out to be this nursing home's least impressive area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in this category. In forming these short-term care scores, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to create a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. It appears that this place was subpar in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the data we considered. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home a bit in this area as well, with just 47.8 percent of its patients returning home. This was below the national average.
