Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
Although we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B- for our short-term care rating. Short-term care ratings are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Facility Inspections
We actually gave this facility a very solid score in the area of inspections as well. We gave it a B- in this category. This is better than many nursing homes in this category. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing score is primarily associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics. Although this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this area. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning residents more frequently.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we graded is long-term care, ended up being this nursing home's least impressive category. We gave this nursing home a D in this category. For long-term care residents, the primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Fortunately, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
