Unfortunately, we didn't have any positive things to say about this nursing home's overall score or its category grades. Its best category was short-term care. However, with a D in this category, it still performed poorly. Short-term care grades are vital for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. As you might expect, we discovered that this nursing home offers far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the typical facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 5.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Unfortunately, this place didn't receive glowing government inspections in recent years. We gave it just a D for our inspections rating and that actually proved to be its second best grade. Inspection grades factor in many items found on the nursing home's recent inspection reports. If you see too many deficiencies on the inspection reports, this is typically a bad sign. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to patient safety. This facility was hit with one category G through L deficiency, which are among the more serious categories of deficiencies. These categories indicate that the deficiencies uncovered by the government inspectors had potential to pose actual harm to residents. Lastly, we also want to point out that this place received significant government fines of more than $50,000. This usually suggests that CMS inspectors became fed up after several years of bad health inspections.

This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. When computing our nursing grades, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Turning to our fourth area, this facility did not perform well in this area either. Due to a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this facility vaccinated just 64.96212 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
