In addition to a phenomenal overall grade, this facility also received A+ nursing grade. Our nursing rating considers a host of datapoints. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This nursing home provides 3.9 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is more than the level of care offered by most places. Finally, this nursing home also excelled in the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed as well as any facility the country in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

In addition, this facility was given high marks in the category of short-term care. As a result, it was given one of our most impressive scores in that area with a grade of A+. Our short-term care grade is often employed to measure a facility's rehabilitation services. To offer quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This nursing home provides more services with registered nurses and physical therapists than most facilities we looked at. This is generally an excellent sign. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from this facility. In addition to excelling in the area of physical therapy staffing, we found that it performed as well as just about any nursing home with 60.9 percent of its patients returning home.

In addition, this nursing home also received a nearly flawless government inspection report. It received one of our best grades in that category with an A. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

The next category we graded was long-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of B. Believe it or not, this turned out to be this facility's least impressive category. A facility is doing something right when their lowest score still beats out most other facilities. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are well cared for. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 92.04893 percent of its residents. This is somewhat lower than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Fortunately, this facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 1.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a substantially better hospitalization rate than the majority of nursing homes.
