Nurse Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. There are a variety of factors within this area. Many of the subcategories reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of moving residents even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
Adding to its fine assessment, this facility also was awarded a strong short-term care score, with a score of A. Our short-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home has had near flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Our inspection ratings are based on datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at was long-term care. We gave this facility an acceptable grade in that area, with a grade of B-. Even though this is not as favorable as some of this facility's other scores, it is nevertheless not a major area of concern. In the category of long-term care, we focus on the quantity of services provided by a nursing home, as opposed to more sophisticated services. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility gave the vaccine to 99.71098 percent of its patients, which is an above average datapoint. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
