Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This facility was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This indicates that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Contributing to its elite resume, this facility also performed well in our short-term care category. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in the category. Short-term care ratings are important for prospective residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes a vast scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. The nursing score is based on many factors. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we analyzed is long-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an acceptable grade of B-. This was this nursing home's weakest area. With our long-term care rating, we analyze the amount of care offered by a nursing home, along with some quality data points. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility vaccinated 98.774506 percent of its residents, which is a very solid datapoint. This place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
