Facility Inspections
Although this place's overall score was terrible, it fared pretty well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B+ for that category, which is one of our better scores. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
Remarkably, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C for our nursing rating, which isn't a bad grade. Our nursing rating is largely associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.

Short-term Care Quality
Another concern is the F this facility was given in the area of short-term care. Our short-term care scores are likely more critical for folks in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Given its abysmal score in this area, we were not surprised to discover this facility offered far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. The last metric we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics sunk this nursing home's short-term care grade.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is a very poor score. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 93.15069 percent of its residents, which is slightly lower than we expected. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
