Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it an A for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Not having any deficiencies proved to be this place's greatest strength.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's next best score was long-term care, but it nevertheless earned a grade of just D in that category. This is still a relatively poor grade. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is typically a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed. Once we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. We were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 57.8125 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the category of short-term care. In determining these short-term care scores, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Based on its score in this area, we were not stunned to find that this facility is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the figures we assessed. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Turning to the fourth area, this facility didn't perform very well here either. With a rock bottom grade of F in nursing, this is about as bad as it gets. The nursing rating analyzes several factors, however, the primary one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
