Facility Inspections
Although we didn't rate this nursing home favorably overall, we actually gave it an excellent grade in the category of inspections, where it received an A. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. The lack of deficiencies is this facility's best achievement.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second most respectable score was long-term care, but it still received just a D in that area. This still happens to be a well below average grade. Facilities that don't score well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. After considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 93.21267 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be somewhat below what we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Our nursing grade consists of quite a few components, however, the main consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provided just 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient daily. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these datapoints to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our next area, this nursing home really didn't perform well here either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. In calculating these short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 2.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
