To go along with its strong overall grade, we gave this nursing home an A- for our long-term care score. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in this category it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After we finished assessing the amount of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly can be a life or death ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not take any chances. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Adding to its impressive grades, we awarded this facility an B+ for inspections. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This place was hit with 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

In addition, this facility also received favorable nursing grades this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. Nursing scores are largely tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Moving on to our next area, this facility was awarded a respectable short-term care grade of B-. Short-term care grades are often employed to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to provide highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. It does not appear that this nursing home provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
