Nurse Quality
One of the reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we gave this nursing home an A. Nursing scores are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is higher than what is offered by most nursing homes. Lastly, this place was also above average in each of the major quality-based metrics we assessed in this category. By way of illustration, it performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care a nursing home provides.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also performed well in inspections. It received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. It received one of our best scores in that category with a score of A-. Few facilities with an overall score in this range performed this well in multiple categories. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is really what you like to see on an inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also received an impressive short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it an above average score of B+ in this category. In our short-term care category, we strive to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. This place performed better than most facilities in this area with 55.4 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is long-term care. We gave this facility a grade of D for long-term care, making this the facility's least impressive category. For long-term care residents, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of providing respectable levels of nurse staffing, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 98.73418 percent of its residents. These marks were notably more favorable than some of its other statistics in this category. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.7 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
