Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this place ended up being a quality nursing home is it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Inspection ratings account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Our nursing rating is mostly tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of moving a resident at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received a high-end grade of A- in our long-term care area. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 97.87234 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia can be a deadly ailment for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
In the last category we looked at, this facility was awarded a very strong grade of A- in our short-term care category. With this score, the facility wrapped up a straight A profile. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
