Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, it also performed well in the area of inspections, where it earned an A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Inspection grades are based on many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This facility also received a strong long-term care score. In fact, we gave it an above average score of B+ in this category. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are kept in good health. After considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is typically a meaningful assessment of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff.
