Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this facility also excelled in the category of inspections, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also excelled in the area of long-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a score of A- in that area, which is one of our best grades. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 90.804596 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be a few points lower than we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with an D. Nursing ratings are primarily based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place provided a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home's weakest category is short-term care, which is the last area we assessed. We gave it an F in this category. Despite a few solid scores in other categories, this score is still concerning so we felt obligated to draw your attention to it. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This category is typically a solid assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. It appears that this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. The final item we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.3 percent of its patients returning home.
