Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an A+ long-term care grade. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to elite nursing hour statistics, this facility's vaccination records is as good as it gets as well. In fact, this facility vaccinated 98.72611 percent of its residents for pneumonia. The last statistic we assessed was the nursing home's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this place had 1.73 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is middle of the road in this area.
Facility Inspections
Adding to an already impressive profile, this facility also received virtually flawless health inspections in recent years. As a result, we awarded it an A+ inspection grade. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning our next area, this facility received a top-shelf short-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a score of A in that category. With our short-term care grade, we endeavor to craft a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the country with 65.5 percent of its residents returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most facilities.
Nurse Quality
In our last area, we gave this facility a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. This wrapped up a very impressive profile. Nursing grades are primarily tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides an impressive 5.5 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is among the highest figures in Ohio. Finally, this facility also excelled in several of the quality measures we assessed. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls. Many pressure ulcers can be avoided by providing better nursing care and a policy of turning patients even once per day.
