Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A-. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among the reasons we graded this facility so favorably is that it was given a favorable short-term care grade. Indeed, short-term care ended up being its second most favorable category score. In that category, we gave this facility a score of A-. In calculating our short-term care scores, we look at the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is often a meaningful assessment of the facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to this nursing home's list of strengths, it also received an excellent nursing grade. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. In computing a facility's nursing score, we assess the quantity of hours nurses commit to patients as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we looked at is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a solid grade in this area, with a grade of B-. While this was not as dominant as a few of this facility's other scores, it is still a middle of the pack score. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinated 99.29078 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
