Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home's overall grade, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with an A+. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid facilities that had too many deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. In spite of this deficiency, this place still had a relatively positive inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
One of this facility's more respectable category grades came in the area of long-term care. This proved to be its second most favorable category. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C. For patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home gave the vaccine to just 73.90029 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this nursing home excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. Our nursing grade is based on several datapoints, however, the paramount one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This place provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This facility fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at is short-term care. We gave it an F for this category, which is a poor grade. Short-term care grades are often used to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To have highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Not surprisingly, we learned that this place provides far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average nursing home. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
