Facility Inspections
While we didn't give this facility a good overall score, we actually gave it a strong grade in the area of inspections, where it earned a B+. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home received 9 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of B-. Our nursing rating consists of quite a few components, but the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averages 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at a few nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these subcategories. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this datapoint. This is usually a reliable indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving residents more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality
As it turns out, this facility only earned a grade of D for its short-term care rating, which is not a very good score. In our short-term care rating, we endeavor to create a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Based on its abysmal score in this category, we were not shocked to discover this nursing home offered substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. The last item we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 48.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics was damning for this facility's short-term care score.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 85.106384 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.73 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
