On top of performing well overall, this facility received a nearly flawless inspection report. Therefore, it received one of our highest scores in that category with an A+. Our inspection ratings are based on datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This nursing home really excelled in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of A. Not many facilities performed more favorably in this area. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 95.625 percent of its residents, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. Our nursing rating is mostly based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of turning residents at least once a day.

The next area we looked at proved to be this facility's worst category. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still gave it an acceptable grade of C in our short-term care category. Short-term care scores are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. It does not look like this facility provided information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. The final measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
