Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

We want to point out that this facility really outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in this area with a grade of A-. Inspection grades weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area tend to have few severe deficiencies. This place was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient safety or health. A few minor dings aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's higher category scores was in the category of long-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a B. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are kept in good health. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 95.652176 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a dangerous ailment for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility's third best category was its short-term care grade, where it was given a grade of C. Our short-term care grades are likely more critical for individuals needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires additional skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last category we rated is nursing. This nursing home was given a C for the category. The nursing grade features a number of data points. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This figure is significantly below average. Finally, our nursing scores also factor in quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. Although this place didn't have as many nursing hours as many other facilities we looked at, it was still better than average in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a good indicator of how carefully a facility's nursing staff is tending to its residents. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses and safety protocols are in place.
