Facility Inspections
To pair with a strong overall grade, we gave this place an A+ for inspections. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, this nursing home received high marks in the area of short-term care. As a result, it was given one of our best grades in that category with a grade of A+. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. This nursing home excelled at the highest level in two key staffing areas we assessed. It provided about 50% more care from registered nurses and physical therapists than the average facility. This is generally an excellent sign. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. In addition to excelling in the area of physical therapy hours, we found that it fared as well as just about any nursing home in the nation with 71.6 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our nursing grade is largely tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home boasts a really impressive 5.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, of which a significant percentage was provided by registered nurses. This is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. This is one of the higher totals of nursing hours we found at any facility. In addition to providing impressive levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed as well as any nursing home in the country when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we graded is long-term care. We gave this facility one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a grade of B. While this is not as dominant as a few of this nursing home's other scores, it is still a positive score. For residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. It does not appear that this facility provided information about vaccinations. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
