Nurse Quality
This nursing home received a strong overall grade as discussed above, but we especially wanted to emphasize its excellent nursing rating. We gave them an A in this category. The nursing score weighs several subcategories, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of turning a resident more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this nursing home's above average category grades came in the category of short-term care. We gave them one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a score of B+. With our short-term care assessment, we attempt to craft a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections
Another area of strength for this nursing home is in inspections. Inspections turned out to be one of its best categories. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a B. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few relatively minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we graded is long-term care. This facility was given a favorable long-term care rating in our assessment, with a B-. Even though this isn't quite as strong as many of its other grades, this remains a decent rating in that category. Long-term care ratings are pivotal for people requiring non-healthcare services such as personal care. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
