Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a great overall score, this facility also received an A+ short-term care grade. Our short-term care ratings are likely more meaningful for residents needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not only nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition, this nursing home also earned a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with a score of A. Our inspection scores are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final area we scored was long-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility an acceptable grade of C. This was this nursing home's least impressive category. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is a very respectable figure. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
