Facility Inspections

Grade: B

On top of having a decent overall grade, we also wanted to point out that this facility received favorable government inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our better grades in that category, with a B. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively minor. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.

Additionally, we gave this facility a B in our long-term care category. This is one of our more impressive scores. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are kept in good health. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.5984 percent of its residents. This is a proven method to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.
