Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an impressive inspection grade. In fact, inspections is its best category. In this category, we awarded it an A+. Inspection grades are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality

This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of C. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. Nursing scores are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure as it is well below the national average. Lastly, while this nursing home got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this subcategory.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the fourth area, we awarded this nursing home a D for our short-term care category. This is the nursing home's least impressive category rating. Unfortunately, this grade pulled down the facility's overall grade to some degree. Short-term care grades are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. It looks like this place was subpar in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the data we assessed. Finally, we considered the number of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
