Long-term Care Quality
While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it received a more respectable long-term care score this year. We gave it a C in that area, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we can find for this facility. Long-term care grades are commonly used to assess a facility's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services provided by a rehabilitation facility. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home gave the vaccine to only 71.159874 percent of its residents, which is not a very encouraging sign. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
Interestingly, this facility's awful overall grade can't really be attributed to its inspection reports. We gave it a C for our inspections category. Inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This place had 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were category G through L deficiencies. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received some government fines in recent years.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also didn't perform terribly in the area of nursing. In fact, we awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is another one its better scores. Our nursing rating analyzes the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of skill of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. This particular facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This figure is significantly below the national average. Finally, while this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it did very well in this statistic.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last category, this nursing home really didn't fare very well in this category either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Based on its score in this category, we weren't stunned to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the data we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
