Facility Inspections
This nursing home received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its nearly flawless inspection reports in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this category tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This means the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.
Nurse Quality
In addition, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B in our nursing category. This is one of our better grades. Our nursing grade is primarily based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility Ohio in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving a resident more often.

Long-term Care Quality
The third most favorable category we awarded this facility in any category came in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. Our long-term care grade focuses on a facility's assistance with daily living rather than the skilled therapy or healthcare services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 97.77778 percent of its residents, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we rated was short-term care. This facility received a C in the category. Short-term care grades are meaningful for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
