Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great nursing home overall, it also earned A+ government inspections recently. Its inspections are nearly perfect. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

To add to its top-shelf achievements in other areas, we gave this facility a grade of A- for our long-term care rating. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After we finished assessing the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 99.30796 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home does not leave this to chance. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning the page to our next area, we gave this nursing home a grade of A- for our short-term care rating. This is a very impressive grade. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Switching gears to the last category, this nursing home was awarded a high-end nursing score. We gave it a grade of B+ in this area, topping off one of our more favorable report cards. Our nursing score looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
