Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our shot-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. In our short-term care category, we try to create a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 6.4 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate information about this nursing home's deficiencies. Without having access to all of the deficiency data for this facility, it ended up being a challenge to really evaluate the place in terms of this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. When computing our nursing ratings, we assess both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility Florida in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by having a policy of moving a patient even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we assessed is long-term care. We gave this nursing home one of our better scores in that area, with a B. Although this isn't as dominant as some of its other scores, it is nevertheless a perfectly acceptable grade. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a reliable method to minimize unnecessary hospitalizations for the senior population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.05 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
