Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to point out the fact that this nursing home earned near flawless health inspections recently. We gave them an A+ in this area. Arguably the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Contributing to its first-rate profile, this facility also was awarded a strong short-term care score, with a grade of A. In computing our short-term care grades, we scrutinize a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This score is generally a reliable assessment of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Nursing ratings are largely tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The last category we assessed is long-term care, where this nursing home was given a grade of B+. This completed a very strong profile. Very few facilities earned a B+ or higher in every single category. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the data points we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 67.55556 percent of its patients. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
