Registered Staff Hours
Facility Inspections
While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it actually received a fairly impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our more favorable scores in that category with a B+. Our inspection grades are tied to many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We gave this facility just a D for our short-term care rating and that actually wound up as its second most favorable category. Short-term care grades are critical for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. With a score of this caliber for this category, we weren't stunned to discover this nursing home was well below average in several staffing metrics we assess. In fact, it offered significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most facilities. Finally, we considered the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Our nursing score is mostly associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. With a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day, this facility's nurse staffing levels were far below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at is long-term care, where this facility was given a rock bottom grade in this area as well. It received a lowly F in this category, which is obviously very concerning. Nursing homes that do not score well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 84.52722 percent of its patients. This is pretty significantly below what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
