Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a strong overall rating, this facility received an A+ inspection rating. This is based on the facility's recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can offer a nursing home. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Nursing grades are based largely on quality and quantity of nursing care. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility is also strong in the category of long-term care, where it was given a score of B+. It outperformed most facilities in this area. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 86.4 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed is short-term care. This nursing home was given an above average nursing rating this year, with a grade of B. Even though this is not as elite as many of its other grades, this is still one of our more impressive scores in that area. Our short-term care ratings are likely most meaningful for those in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 3.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
