Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this place ended up being a quality nursing home is that it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is as good as it gets in this area. Our inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition, this facility received quality marks in the category of long-term care. For this reason, it received one of our best scores in that category with a score of A+. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. In calculating our nursing grades, we factor in both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In our final category, this nursing home also received a first-rate short-term care grade, with a grade of A-. This completed a first-rate profile. In determining our short-term care scores, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is generally a solid assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
